Big Bear Lake is a man-made fresh-water lake. Its seven miles long and a mile across at its widest point, but 1/2 a mile across on average. Its deepest near the dam, at about 72 ft, depending on the lake level. The water is about 30 degrees in the winter and by the end of summer its around 70 degrees.
